Dates

Although this page is about courses, a quick note on dates, we arrange our training courses to meet your needs and availability – so you choose the dates and times that suit you.

We operate 365 days a year and fly throughout the year. This means that we can offer you the training you want, when you want it.

We don’t offer gimmicks or promotions, but we keep our school small and the level of tuition high, which guarantees delivery of bespoke, successful, high quality training.

Our ethos is that a good tutor meets his/her pupil at the place they are at and takes them on a learning experience that gets them to where they want to be. We pride ourselves in tailoring our service to meet your needs – so book with us and enjoy the experience of a lifetime.

ADVANCED COURSE 1: TANDEM FAST TRACK (TFT)

Ground Handling a Paraglider, rear launch

Accelerate your training on a "Tandem Fast Track Course", a unique course to Freeflight Paragliding.

What is TFT?  Simply put, your BHPA tasks are normally carried out solo.  This can lead to frustration and disappointments.

On TFT you are piloting the tandem while on the flight/task.  The tandem pilot instructs through out the flight vastly accelerating your potential growth in confidence and knowledge.  This gives you a bigger edge on your solo flight/tasks, ultimately qualifying earlier as a Pilot with a higher level of skill and safety.

A typical TFT day involves:

Site Assessment & Meteorology

Flight Plan including Tasks

Tandem Flight under instructor control followed by student taking control

Solo Flight under Radio, this allows the student to repeat the exercises carried out during tandem and reinforce the lessons learnt.

End of day debrief

This is an intense one-to-one experience and will be tailored to your particular skills and requirements and will cover all tasks required for Pilot and Advanced Pilot.  It can also be used to supplement your CP course if you have not already qualified as CP.

The primary objective of this course is for you to gain sufficient knowledge and experience to thermal with confidence and complete your first cross country.

ADVANCED PARAGLIDING COURSE 2: SOARING COURSE (SC)

Ground speed paragliding

Accelerate your training on a "Soaring Course", a unique course to Freeflight Paragliding.

What is SC? This course builds on the Club Pilot tasks and provides you with the confidence to soar and top land at all of the Southern Hang Gliding Club sites.  This course can be linked to the TFT course.

Training starts at our prime teaching site at Steyning but will move to the main Southern sites such as Devils Dyke, Caburn, Truleigh, Ditchling, Bo Peep, Firle, High & Over, Beachy Head and Newhaven Cliffs.

A typical SC day involves:

2: Flight Plan including Tasks.

3: Tandem Flight under instructor control followed by student taking control

4: Solo Flight under Radio, this allows the student to repeat the exercises carried out during tandem and reinforce the lessons learnt.
